Dental implants are changing people’s lives. With dental implants, those who have lost teeth can recover the ability to eat anything that they want, as well as smile with confidence.
What are Dental Implants?
Designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth, dental implants in Vienna, VA are miniscule titanium posts that act as substitutes for teeth roots. These metal anchors are placed surgically into the jawbone, where the bone will then bond with the titanium in a process known as osseointegration. This creates a strong foundation for the artificial teeth.
Why Dental Implants?
Dental implants are among the most popular dental procedures today – and for good reason. With dental implants, you can improve your oral health, chew properly again, and have renewed self-confidence in your appearance.
Why Select Dental Implants Over More Traditional Types of Restorations?
There are many reasons to choose dental implants over other types of restorations.
One reason is that dentures – even partial ones – can be uncomfortable and inconvenient. Additionally, removable partial dentures can eventually cause more tooth loss and can necessitate complete dentures, later on.
Another reason is cost. Over time, dental implants cost less than bridgework. Bridgework maintenance can be costly, especially if the natural teeth that support the bridgework need treatment for abscesses, tooth decay, or gum disease. Patients might be better off removing bad teeth and replacing them with dental implants than attempting to save their teeth with root canal treatments.
What Types of Prostheses or Replacement Teeth Are Available? What are the Costs?
The cost of your implant treatment will depend on the replacement teeth that you choose. Dental fees can range from a few thousand dollars to almost a hundred thousand dollars, depending on how complicated the treatment is. Fortunately, there is a dental implant treatment that can fit anyone’s budget. With Mayberry Dental, fees will be less costly since you won’t be shuffled around different doctor’s offices. We can do everything in-office.
There are two options for replacing missing teeth. The first and best option is the fixed or non-removable one, where we reconstruct and replace missing teeth with permanent prosthetic teeth that patients cannot remove. This option, however, is more complicated and costlier, though the fees will include all associated treatment procedures. The number of teeth to be replaced will also affect the total fee.
The other, most popular, option is getting removable prosthetic teeth, more commonly called removable dentures. This option is less expensive than fixed prosthetic teeth, however it does require the patient to tolerate replacement tooth movement. This type of replacement tooth can be removed by the patient for daily cleaning.
Both options are performed by Dr. Mayberry in-office. He can do implant surgery, bone grafting, periodontal surgery, and wisdom tooth removal in our surgical operating suite.
Are You a Candidate For Implants?
If you are considering getting dental implants, you must first be examined by the dentist. Your mouth will be thoroughly inspected and both your medical and dental history will be reviewed.
If we find that you are not an ideal candidate for implants, due, for instance, to low bone density, we may recommend bone grafting first.
What Type of Anesthesia Is Used?
For the majority of dental implants and bone graft treatment, I.V. Sedation is used in-office.
Do Implants Require Special Care?
The implants will serve you well for many years if you keep your mouth healthy by practicing good oral hygiene – such as regular brushing and flossing – and having consistent maintenance appointments in our office.
