Dr. Mayberry grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1967 he was drafted into the US Army. For the next two years served his country and participated in the Vietnam Conflict. Dr. Mayberry was a member of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division. He served in the Republic of Vietnam as an Airborne Ranger in a long-range patrol team, 1967‑69.
In 1974 Doctor Mayberry graduated from the University of Richmond, Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology. In the fall of that year, he was accepted into the Dental School of the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University. He graduated from dental school in 1978. Upon completing his graduation requirements a semester ahead of his classmates he began his private practice with a commitment to continuing his dental education.
Continuing education has been an ongoing endeavor for Dr. Mayberry. Since his graduation from dental school he has taken over 2700 hours of continuing education including; periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, dental implantology, oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry, computerized dentistry, etc. Dr. Mayberry was one of the first dentists in northern Virginia to integrate CEREC computer technology into his practice in 1997. He has designed and placed thousands of CEREC computer generated CAD/CAM all ceramic dental restorations since 1997. Dr. Mayberry is licensed to practice dentistry in Virginia, Maryland, and Utah. He is a member of the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the Virginia Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. The doctor is licensed to provide intravenous sedation; he has been using this technique successfully treating many thousands of patients since 1978 for all types of dental procedures to ensure total patient comfort.
Dr. Mayberry was certified by rigorous examination in 1997 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, www.aboi.org, the doctor routinely provides both surgical and restorative dental implant treatments.
He achieved Fellowship status in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, www.aaid-implant.org, the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Mayberry attended the Scripps Dental Implant Education and Research Center residency program in La Jolla, California.
He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a examiner on the Admissions and Credentials Committee of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In 2002 he was honored to be nominated as one of the “Best Dentists in America” by the Consumer Research Council of America. In 2004, and 2005 he was recognized by Northern Virginia Living magazine as a “Top Dentist.”
Dr. Mayberry and his wife have six children, Christopher, Matthew, Lauren, Todd, Kirk, Suzanne and three grandchildren, Zane, Trey, and Cariss.
